Beginning Quilting 101 & 102

Double 4 Patch (Beginning Quilting 101)
Learn to use your rulers and rotary cutters. Easy piecing techniques make this classic design using only 2 colors. You will be instructed in piecing a quilt top, how to measure and apply borders, and finishing the quilt with binding. Finished quilt is 70" x 78".

Beginning Quilting 102Jewel Box  
Students will learn all the basics of quilt making, how to use rulers and safely handle a rotary cutter.  Using chain piecing, two simple blocks combine into a versatile design using a straight set of 4 patches and half square triangles. Finished size is 56” x 72”.

Are you interested in taking your embroidery skills to the next level? If so, this class is for you! We will be learning variations of stitches that you may already know along with ones that you may not have tried. The class  will meet once a month and will cover 1 or 2 stitches and how they are used in a variety of ways. This is a perfect class for those interested in ‘free embroidery style’ and for Crazy Quilt projects.

Beginning Paper Piecing - The Judy Niemeyer Way

Have you ever wanted to do a Judy Niemeyer pattern but thought it was too hard? Come learn the Judy Niemeyer paper piecing method in this beginning class. You will learn Judy's cutting, stacking, sorting and sewing methods. We will be making (3) 7" x 7" paper pieced blocks and when you're done you will be able to tackle any Judy pattern.

Bouilliabaise

This is a great project to use up those scraps. Use as many fabrics or as few as you like. You must have an equal number of lights, mediums and darks to create the secondary pattern. Quilt looks good in shades of one color, novelties, patriotic or just old scraps. Finished quilt size is 64" x 80".

Harvest Moon


The Harvest Moon is a wonderful beginner’s pattern that uses Judy’s Niemeyer’s paper piecing Technique. You’ll be introduced to blocks for Flying Geese and Cactus Flowers in a fun and colorful 6" block layout designed to show off your favorite batik collection.

Beginning Hand Appliqué         


Learn to prepare fabric for appliqué using the starch method.  This method is an alternative to traditional needle turn appliqué and results in very smooth and sharp edges on your appliqué pieces.  Students will choose their own designs to work on. This is a 2 day class.

Come sit & sew with me from 11 am to 3 pm and ask away, any questions on any pattern and we will get you through what you thought was the most confusing pattern you ever bought. I promise it is easier than you think. No pressure, no class time limits, just finishing what I consider are some of the most beautiful quilts there are.

 Quilts of Honor Workshop (All Levels)

Join our workshop for Quilts of Honor. Quilts of Honor provides quilts to all veterans from all branches of the military. All service men and women that have been affected by war are eligible to receive a quilt. Join us once a month at Queen B's Quilt Shop to work on these quilts. If you are unable to attend our workshop please leave fabric donations for Quilts of Honor at the shop. In particular we need patriotic prints, reds, whites, creams, tans and blues.Thank you for your help.

 Donation Workshop (All Levels)

Join our workshop once a month to help perform a variety of duties that are involved in the many steps that are needed to complete a quilt. Queen B’s donates the fabric and quilters donate their time. We will provide technique demos for specific tasks that have to be done. All levels of quilters are welcome.
This is a great way to hone those quilting skills while contributing to a variety of very worth while causes which include organizations and individuals in need.  Meets the 2nd Friday of each month except November.

'Floral Menagerie' Block of the Month                   

'Floral Menagerie' Block of the Month from In the Beginning Fabrics features a different fusible applique animal each month for 12 months. Create these colorful animals using a floral print and then add a patchwork sashing to complete each block. Each bright and happy block is 24" x 24". Finished quilt is 72 1/2" x 96 1/2".
Dates: Starts December 1, 2017 thru November1, 2018

Full payment for classes is due when you register. At that time you will be provided with a supply list. You will receive a full refund if the class is cancelled. If you are not able to attend a class, you must give a 7-day notice in order to receive a refund. Any other cancellations are left up to the discretion of the instructor.
